Community Projects

Combining international experience in Arts Education, Thomas J Murphy’s community projects collaborate with NGOs to deliver collaborative art-making, public mural workshops, and creative education to underprivileged children in war-affected communities across the MENA region, using art as an empowering tool to bring creative expression, empowerment, and joy.

Syria 2026

Mural painting for a small Christian school in Damascus, Syria; helped by the students. This school is funded entirely by the local church, and provides free education to local underprivileged children of all religions, many of whom have lost parents and family members through armed conflict in Syria.

Lebanon 2026

Two days teaching art lessons on printmaking to Lebanese children at non-profit educational center in Beirut. All these students come from the underprivileged community next to the school, many of whom have to work a job after finishing school in the afternoon to help support their families.

Jordan 2025

A volunteer project painting murals at an educational centre for Palestinian children living in the nearby Al Baqa’a refugee camp. These children have had to flee their home country due to armed conflict, many of them are not predicted to finish their education and will likely have to drop out of school early to find work instead.
